syslogd automagically rotates the /etc/messages file weekly. If I setup the syslog.conf to log to other files, will those also be automagically rotated? If not, can I just rotate those files out from under syslogd and it will take notice and re-open the logs?
I found lots of info about log rotation up on NOW. I didn't find the answer to this question in either the man pages or on NOW, but maybe I missed something.

On the subject of na_syslogd, does anyone out there use their filers and a network loghost? Since you can't mess with the root volume under alot of the vol * commands, keeping data off of the root kinda-sorta makes sense, if you've got disk to spare...
....But you've still got the 3-disk minimum, which even with 4gb disks is pretty big.. massive syslog stores?
just letting my mind wander too much. ...kg..

Actually, I think you only need two disks; try it yourself, don't take my word for it. Three is a minimum optimal number. Raid 5 with 2 disks will simply be a mirror.
