I know this is possible using NDMP if the controlling software supports DAR (Legato, for example). 'restore' should have the same capabilities:

Hi,
I'm using native ontap "dump" utility to backup full volumes of a filer. I find difficult in restoring a single data file from a backup taken to a tape to it's original location using "restore" command (i need to replace a single file in the active file system from the tape and not SFSR from snapshots).
I take full volume backups (dump 0f rst0a /vol/volume_name), can i do a single file restore if i take full volume backups?
Thanks.
