Hello Jim,
Many customers use a CIFS client from Thursby Software called Dave. Thursby also offer an NFS client. www.thursby.com
Other than that, you'd need to use an NFS to AFP gateway product. We've not tested any of them but I do know that there are customers using some of these solutions (not in any specific order):
1) Apple OS X server (the command line version, which has been available for some time now) *might* be able to function as a gateway.
2) NetATalk is an open source AFP server
3) Helios Ethershare www.helios.de
On a smaller scale, the Dave client is probably your best solution. There are no CIFS to AFP gateways that I've ever heard of. Microsoft SFM (Services for Macintosh), which ships with NT & Win2K, can't be fooled into using NAS as back end storage. :(

I would like to pose a question. Has anyone had to incorporate Mac clients into an NT domain from Novell ? Using a Netapp filer as the storage medium for such. I am looking at moving these clients files from a Novell server to the Netapp. I have read the 'NT' material on what needs to be done as far as the files being put on an 'NT' server. But am unsure of what needs to be done to make it work with Netapp. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Paul,
I have a client who is using the Helios Ethershare in production on a Sun E6500. They are "resharing" the NFS mount to the Mac clients and are happy as heck with it. Actually, they have found increased performance over direct attached (although *slightly* dated) SCSI RAID. If anyone would like more info, let me know.
