Hi, I have some questions about the maximum amount of disk allowed on the F740.
Is it a hard limit on the total disksize or the useable disksize? ie. do you count the hotspares?
The 1TB limit: is it 2^40 or 10^12? or some other fixed number?

1.4 TB is *currently* the limit on TOTAL disk size.
The F740 has an upper capacity of just over 900GB (give or take depending on the number of volumes/RAID groups configured). 8 shelves of 18GB drives, or 4 shelves of 36 GB drives. Hot Spares are included. See: http://www.netapp.com/ftp/f700_series_ds.pdf for more details.
The F760 will take you up to 1.4TB of data today.
Regards, Robert
