I suppose this is a different issue than what I saw but I never heard of thes settings when my ACL's were not being "written" via ndmpcopy and for me - this is why the patch level 6.1R1D10 exists - there is a Bug ID somewhere that explains my issue. will try to track it down tw

Hi Neil, This particular issue is related to Legato Networker 6.1. They do not set the EXTRACT_ACL ndmp environement variable to T. The default value for that variable is F. That was causing the restore for ACLs to fail.
The fix for *this* issue requires the customer to set this variable in the legato GUI configuration. If you need any more information on how to set this, please let me know. Thanks, Amol.

does anyone know anything about this:
"there are two issues with restoring ACLs via the filer's NDMP Local Direct Access Restore capability. First, you need to set the NDMP Client Environment Variable "EXTRACT_ACL" to TRUE. The variable currently defaults to FALSE. If you cannot see a listing of this variable in your client, it is set to FALSE. Contact your client's support to assist you in setting this variable.....
