the /etc/messages file will show when the srubs start:

Sun Dec 15 01:00:00 EST [raid_scrub_admin]: Beginning disk scrubbing...

and when they finish:

Sun Dec 15 09:22:37 EST [consumer]: Disk scrubbing finished...
