I'm working with my salesman on adding a DS14 shelf to my F810 filer. (already have one DS14 shelf)
He's put in the quote: 2x NetApp DS14 LS Module, Copper-Copper Ports
On my current DS14 shelf I have: 2x NetApp DS14 LS Module Cu-Cu Ports
Do I need the Module's on the new shelf? Why do I have two on the current shelf?

cu is equivalent to copper cu stands for cuivre
the oposite of cu/copper is fiber fiber connection beween head filer and shelves allow a longer distance between them for cluster and drp needs fiber are more expensive because of that
firsts ds14 models was copper using fiber shelves require specific fc controller board (with fiber ports) the most part of shelves i know are copper based so you shouldn't worry about that
there is two port (two channel) to allow redudancy in the disks access personnally, i would prefer two different cards perhaps
the only point to check is to be sure you will get a copper shelves if you got copper based fc controller
bye
