Hi folks,
I have an F720 running 5.2.2. I am experiencing significant delays with the CIFS protocol. NFS is fine. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

Ed, Do me a favor and type "sysstat 1" from the filers console and watch the Net/KB coming into the system while you do a large file copy to the filer from a NT workstation. Let me know what these numbers are looking like. Also, send me your output from the command "cifs testdc". There could be many issues causing performance problems with the filer. The switch ports and the network ports on the filer may not be hard set to 100tx-fd for example. One may be set to auto and the other set to 100tx-fd. Also, by default WINS will be turned on for all active ports on the filer which are up and running. This may cause problem for you if you have a router or firewall blocking ports 137-139 coming out from the filer network port. Anyway let me know. You can turn off WINS on a per port bases on the filer if need be with the "-wins " switch in the ifconfig line of the network port. Mike
