First, let me say thanks to everyone who responded.
Second, it appears that there are no stand alone FC drives on the market now. There are a couple of drives that have native FC support (LTO-2 and STK 9xxx), but they are available only as a part of a library configuration.
So in our situation, it looks like we'll just attach the tape drives to the Sun server and back everything up via NFS (hope they don't want CIFS data on the filer!), or they'll have to open the pocket book a bit wider and buy a small autoloader or library.

Another option might be to use some sort of encryption on the data so that it can be backed up using your existing backup system. Not sure exactly what would work for your situation though.

Yet another would be an FC - SCSI bridge for your existing library. Chaparral makes several (they call them storage routers). We've used them with older AIT-2 libraries on NetApp F760's for years with no problems. We just upgraded our F760s to FAS940s and attached an Overland Data Neo 4100 to them. While the 4100 is LTO-2, it utilizes a built-in Chaprral to connect to the world via 2 Gb FC. No problems here either.
The Chaparral's aren't cheap (~$6K), but they work with no problems at all.
