Why?
The FC specification allows the "funky" HSSDC and the DB-9. When we started shipping FC, the DB-9 was by far the most prevalent and it is a good reliable connector. We had also heard rumor that the HSSDC was not as reliable. (We have never seen any real data, including our own experience to date, to back that up.) We have stayed with the DB-9 for consistency (i.e., less confusion in the field). We use the HSSDC on the adapter because that is what is on the adapter.

Not that serious a question, but we just got a new F720 and was wondering why the Fibre card has the funky connector on it, but the filer and the trays have a 9-pin connector? I would think as much as the box was idiot-proofed they would of at least used a different connector for the shelves then from the serial devices....
Anyone know? Just curious...
