Jan, if you have a version of Legato which is NDMP compliant, ( 6.0.1 and up), and define the filer as an NDMP client, then Legato itself, creates a snapshot, backs it up and deletes it. That is part of what the NDMP protocol does, because it uses the native dump utility which is built into DataONTAP.
