Company closes and sells off their hardware…..before releasing the shelves they move around the drives in the shelves (for “security”) so now they cannot boot or more importantly get any license info to reinstall OnTap….
Anyway around this? I hate to trash all this hardware.
"Clean configuration and initialize all disks" ? Are there any messages about the disk it is looking for in the error message when attempting to boot?

Jordan,
Here is what I see when I pick a head and shelve. I am not sure if have enough power to hook 4 heads and 9 shelves up together. Not sure if there is a logical way to hook up each one to try to find the match….?

Do the shelf ID's shed any light? If you have 4 controllers (2 ha pairs) and 9 shelves, presumably, 4 were connected to 1 HA-pair and 5 to the other?
Maybe you have a loop of shelves labeled 1-5 and another 1-4?

You should be able to get to maintenance mode (ctrl-c --> option 5) and check ownership (disk show -a or -v). That will tell you how to rearrange the disks back to the right controllers. It does not matter which drive bay they go in, or even which shelf, as long as they are attached to the right controller.
Share and enjoy!
Peter

Thanks all for the help so far!
I was only able to get 1 out of the 4 revived by doing a lot of cable movement, rdfile, ssh, and other late night things I can’t remember.
So unless i can find another way for the other 3 heads they might end up recycled……
Its nice to have 56 15k FC disks running in my lab with vmware….better than the little NAS boxes I have (ReadyNAS, Thecus, Terastation) till i get the electrical bill.
Not sure if images can be attached but here is a link to it running from my G+….https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-N9JsRDqT2Mg/VCMXimtAGMI/AAAAAAAAMS0/ccvcb...
