I'm currently investigating the possibility of using a filer in a mixed unix/windows environment. Basically, we will have a unix-based ftp server, and various windows based web servers. The way this particular application is built means we could make good use of the cifs mechanism change/notify.

As far as I can see, OnTap supports this, more or less, even to the extent of sending notification to cifs clients when an nfs client makes a change to a file. However, the documentation (including bugs online) is unclear on how complete the implementation is. Does anyone know what the current status is ?
