Hi everybody,
i am new to the whole netapp topic and right now i'm a little bit confused. Currently we run a FAS920 with a LUN for our exchange database. We use snapdrive and snapmanager to take snapshots of this system and here is my problem. As i was told LUN's do not need a "Snap reserve" in the traditional way so i changed this setting to 0%.
What i am wondering now is the output of df -hr total used avail reserved /vol/exchdata 700GB 428GB 271GB 89GB
The Lun is currently at 330 GB so i expected the reserved space to be 330 GB too, because i learned with LUN's it is the default and recommend setting to have it like that.
Can anybody help? Where does this 89 GB come from and is there a command to see how much space is currently reserved for this LUN?
Rgds and thanks in advance
Jochen

Hello,
Snap reserve is just a reservation made for snapshots. I guess that those 89 GB missing are the snaphots of your lun. See what "snap list" shows about the volume.

Sorry, I was too quick answering your question. I misunderstood the question as I just assumed you were worried about extra space consumed.
The reserved space is already counted in the used space and is just for checking how much of the consumed space is actually in real use (= used - reserved) and what portion is just reserved for luns' future use.
