dear all,
Anyone can give me some idea how to upgarde from F740 Cluster running 5.3.1 to F820 cluster?
I have currently a F740c. one have 2 diskshelf and 2 vol with it. The other one have one diskshelf and one vol. All using 36G harddisk. I need to plan for an upgarde from F740c to F820c. I don't know whether upgarde to 6.x first b4 move to F820c will help. Or should i choice backup and restore? of course, downtime is another concern.

Hi Max:
More information would be useful when trying to help you out here.
1. Is there already data on the two 820's? If so then how many volumes and do you want to add more volumes or add to the current volumes?
2. Do you want to keep your current 3 volumes intact? This is probably easiest.
If you answer these questions it will be easier for somebody to give you advice.
Good luck

Thanks Kelly,
The case is easier now, since is we will have new F820C with shelf. This F820C will up and run for testing and later replace the F740C.
We have existing 3 vol in F740C, two of them is read only file. We can reload it from backup or media. However, one 120G vol is online oracle database (vol0).
I am consider vol copy, ndmpcopy and snapmirror. Get any experience for that. I need to aware data consistence and downtime.

I've used snapmirror to migrate volumes to new filers before it works really smooth. Can't speak to the other solutions as I haven't tried them before.
