How do these work? Do they replace the existing power supply with two separate modules? Does one supply full power while the other is on standby, or do both supply half power during normal operation? --
The filer power supply is replaced by a RPS adapter module. This adapter module is connected via an "umbilical" cord to the separate rack-mount RPS unit. Inside this RPS unit are two power supplies, either of which is capable of powering the filer. In normal operations, these power supplies share the load. This load-sharing feature extends the life of the power supplies over a standby implementation.
