I would suspect, as most tape libraries do, you can get the info from the LCD console of the library, something like FW info?
I am guessing here, maybe someone with a Q47 can chime in with some specifics?

Yeah, I know a government customer who does.
Word of caution:
If the Q47 is somewhat dated, you should upgrade the firmware in the library. There is a bug in their firmware that prevents a filer running 5.3 and later from booting. The Q47 firmware in question is version 4.41. Moving to anything later than that will be fine, like 4.43 & 4.53.

I agree with Tim, many libraries will be able to give some info on the drives on a front panel.
Another option might be to hook it up to the filer and doing 'probe-scsi-all' from the on-board-firmware 'ok' prompt. The output will be something like:
Target 5 Unit 0 Disk SEAGATE ST118202FC FDF6
^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^ Vendorid ProductID Version
