All our machines run xntpd, except <*cough*> the filer. ;)

I'll try the -noac nfs mount option and/or patches and report back if the problem gets solved.

Have you considered setting a cron job to execute rdate on the filer? For example, you could put the following in the crontab of you admin host:

0 3 * * * rsh toaster rdate clock1

This syncs the filer's clock with xntpd server "clock1" every night at 3am.

We're doing this and it works pretty well. It ain't xntpd on the filer, but is serviceable for our purposes.
