Brian,

It's not so much the NetApp and the Linux box that need to be compatible - the filer will connect to the tape drive *only*, and the Linux box to the media changer *only* - they are separate busses (of course, it's likely that the library will have the same (HVD or LVD) interface for both the library and the drive). Since the filer's SCSI port is fast/wide/diff HVD, then the tape drive will need to have the same.

If you use NDMP-compliant backup software, then you can connect the media changer as well as the tape drive directly to the NetApp filer.

Is the scsi connecter on the back of a 760 LVD or HVD? I am trying to hook a tape drive up and need to get a controller for a Linux box that will talk the same language as my netapps. I need this controller to control the media changer of the jukebox.

Fast wide differential, AKA HVD.
