Is there a way to trigger a trap to be sent by a Filer (DOT 6.5.4) to a Net Mgmt station for testing?
I have Aprisma's (old Cabletron now owned by CA) Spectrum in house and have my filer modeled in the Spectrum database as a Generic SNMP model.
Spectrum allows you to add OID's to the existing Gen SNMP model extending Trap support.
Mapping Traps into Spectrum for the filer has numerous benefits for me not the least of which is I can then create an Alarm in Spectrum and use my dedicated Paging Server machine (which dials my Paging provider directly and does not rely on the Network to send an email-page) to notify me of Filer Events such as failed disk or P/S.
I have downloaded the MIB from the NOW site for 6.5.4 to reference the OID's I'll need to feed to Spectrum. Now I want to trigger an actual Trap for a given Filer event to test my mapping and what the Filer *actually* sends out.
Anybody do this already?
Thanks
