The Data ONTAP Software Release 4.3R3 field alert and "4.3 Configuration Guild" have left me with the following questions:
1.) Is the quad-port 10/100Base-T card supported on the F330?
2.) If so, can I have three dual-attached FDDI cards active at the same time as the quad-port 10/100Base-T card on the same F330? This is necessary to support our backbone migration from FDDI to ATM.
3.) Is the quad-port 10/100Base-T card supported on the F230?
4.) What support for quad-port 10/100Base-T cards does ONTAP 4.3 provide? Does any previous release support the card?
Any help is appreciated.

Hey John...
1.) Is the quad-port 10/100Base-T card supported on the F330?
I just took a rummage through my archive of product bulletins for you and... yes! Yes it is. According to my materials on the subject, you are free to jam an X1012 quad ethernet card into slot 5 of your F330. You will need to run the 4.3R3 software release, because that's the release that was tested for this configuration.
2.) If so, can I have three dual-attached FDDI cards active at the same time as the quad-port 10/100Base-T card on the same F330? This is necessary to support our backbone migration from FDDI to ATM.
Three FDDI cards and a quad 100baseT is certainly "going some" for an F330! :-) Officially, the F330 supports four network interfaces, so the $64,000 question is whether or not the quad ethernet card officially counts as four interfaces, or just one interface. That.... is a very good question. I have a suspicion that the news may be bad on that front, because I *think* I can guess what they were trying to do when this rule was conceived. They were trying to be realistic about the number of potentially very-high-speed network interfaces that a system with the horsepower of an F330 could be reasonably expected to support. With all those interfaces going full tilt, you are definately looking at an application that is more in the territory of an F520/540 or F630. I'll get back to you....
3.) Is the quad-port 10/100Base-T card supported on the F230?
Again, yes. Actually, the F230 has been officially supported since the release of the quad ethernet card itself, meaning that you don't have to run 4.3R3 on this particular system if you don't want to. Anything >= 4.1d will get the job done.
4.) What support for quad-port 10/100Base-T cards does ONTAP 4.3 provide?
Full support across all the FXXX filers, including the *slightly* older F220, F330 and F540 models. Only the old FAServers (450 & 1400) are not supported.
Does any previous release support the card?
Yes. The quad card was released and formally supported on all the current systems (F210, F230, F520 and F630) right from the getgo, the getgo being the 4.1 release.

Well, I have been given the official nod, and it's good news! Three dual attached FDDI cards and a quad Ethernet adapter are good to go in an F330. Impressive stuff...
