We have docs based on an older release and are going to be upgrading out OS to 6.0, do we need to request new docs? Or does netapp send them out periodically after its designated FCS?

When you download the software you may also retreive the documentation. It looks like they switched from PDF files to html files but they still look pretty good. In six years, NetApp has never sent me new documentation for the version of DOT that I downloaded from the web site. By the way, you may also download the hardware documentation as well. I keep a set of these on file for each of my filer types. This is some good reading and it is nice to be able to talk inteligently with the engineer on the phone and not have to ask "what does that do-hickey thingy supposed to do?"
If you don't want to print them out yourself and would prefer to have a hard copy then by all means ask for it. NetApp will most certainley like to send you out a 6.0.x bundle.

Well, when you buy a filer you get the documentation as of that time bundled into the deal, don't you? What is the price tag for just getting a new set of the printed manuals?

You can buy new doc sets, if you like. Contact your sales rep for details. They may refer you to an inside sales rep (the same person who handles service renewals and such).
