Has anyone played with good NFS analysis tools? I googled about NFS tracing and saw a couple of interesting research papers. One is from Daniel Ellard and Margo Seltzer of Harvard University. The other one from Matt Blaze of Princeton University. Daniel Ellard has the nfsdump and nfsscan tools and Matt Blaze has the rpcspy and nfstrace tools.

I just took a quick scan and am sitting down to read the papers. Just wondering if anyone else has looked at these and know which ones are better? Or if you know of other good tools, please share.

I'm trying to trouble-shoot occasional NFS server not responding error. The filer does not appear to be very busy and only one of the 2 HP-UX servers is having this issue. Although the particular file system is our database production file system and is only pounded on by the production server.
