Hello Toasters.
I want to migrate all my Filers to using VIFs for switch redundancy. But in my testing so far, I can't see any way to get around taking an outage, assuming you want to retain the same IP, since you aren't allowed to create a VIF with the same IP of a live interface.
Does anyone know a way around this? It still seems best to take an outage to reboot the filers and verify that everything is going to work properly in case of a panic, but I'd still like to avoid it.
Thanx.

It's pretty straight forward:
Two FX nics, bind 'em both together as a VIF, then attach your fibers to seperate switches. Failure can be simulated by unplugging a fiber. The VIFs, I believe, implement something akin to STP to choose which of the N ports is active.
