In first, Sorry to I am poor at English.

One of our custmer use F720 running with ONTAP5.3.2D4. They tried to backup to DLT7000 it connected to Sun by remote dump command. However,Dump dose not work with few messsages from NetApp. DLT7000 dose work locally by ufsdump command.

Please let me know, any infomations. More details as following:

Environments: NetApp F720 running ONTAP5.3.2D4 E450(SUN) with Solaris2.6 or 7 DLT7000 connected to E450

Symptoms:

on NetApp console: NetApp> dump 0fub E450:/dev/rmt/0 63 /home E450: premature EOF DUMP: Remote tape cannot be initialized. DUMP: DUMP IS ABORTED

rsh from E450: E450# rsh NetApp dump 0fub E450:/dev/rmt/0 63 /home E450: premature EOF DUMP: Remote tape cannot be initialized. DUMP: DUMP IS ABORTED

result of mt command E450# mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status Sun DLT7000 tape drive: sense key(0x0)= No Additional Sense residual= 0 retries= 0 file no= 0 block no= 0
