ONTAP 7.1.2 (and earlier versions) doesn't preserve "quota logmsg" settings over a reboot. There's a bug recorded for this (168726) at NOW, but it's only fixed in various 7.2.x releases, which I can't go to because I am stuck on an F8xx series filer :-(
I tried putting an appropriate "quota logmsg" command at the end of /etc/rc (after "savecore"), but this didn't work for some reason. There's nothing in /etc/messages or /etc/log/auditlog that indicates it even tried to obey it. Any ideas?
In the lab, we were able to upgrade to 7.2.2 on F8XX hardware. For a lab, this may be ok, but not production: it's definitely unsupported.
