Take a look at the security FAQ. It has info on the default perms for the various security styles when created by the various clients. In particular, look at "What kind of default security is set on files created by CIFS clients?"

I as wondering if anyone knew of a way to set the default umask for somebody connecting via cifs. I do not want to use NFS and was not sure if this was possible or not.
