At first glance it seems like a one-way account migration tool rather than a syncing mechanism.
I would need to sync in either direction.
Is anyone doing anything using LDAP for authentication? Any chance netapp is woring on that as an option rather than a PDC. Would be a much more open solution.

The SecureShare Account Migrator (on NOW) should be able to help you with name syncing.

I understand its not supported. It was my belief that someone on the toasters list was able to get it to work something UNIX.
Actually the latest version of samba is like 99% of the way there. I got my filer talking to it and passing authentication requests from clients to the samba box. it looks like I just have a permissions issue right now.
I was hoping there would be some netapp enineers on here that can *unofficially* offer some tips.
The main problem being password syncing between NT and NIS on unix.
thanks, peter

Hi Peter,
Non Microsoft domain controllers are not supported with
filers at this
time. This is documented on the NOW site :

Is anyone using something other than windows to be a PDC? i.e. LSI TotalNet, Sun PC Netlink, Samba?
Any suggestions appreciated.
