We have 2 volumes on our filer. We back the vol0/ up by individual qtree and vol1/ by the entire volume. Just configure up separate requests in BudTool to do the separate volumes.

Sure. Let's say you have two volumes, vol0 and vol1. You just create two backup requests in the BudTool Request DB, setting the "path prefix" and "file system" fields both to /vol/vol0 in the first request, and to /vol/vol1 in the second request. Other than those two fields, all the other settings can be identical.
Note that you can also backup at the level of subdirectories within a volume, in case you have a really huge volume. In this case you'd set the above two fields to be (e.g.) /vol/vol0/subdir1, /vol/vol0/subdir2, and so on, for each subdirectory you want in a separate backup request.
