Does anyone out there run a unix Opnet license server on their filer? The Opnet licenses know where they're installed and if you restore a disk, they will no longer work (because now they're in a different place). I don't know of Opnet uses the inode number to do this or what.
Thanks, Frank
While NetApp Filers can't run opnet licenses, we've had the associated files on Filers for some months (years?). Works fine.

The Opnet licenses know where they're installed and if you restore a disk, they will no longer work (because now they're in a different place). Right. Been there, annoyed at that. Here you are trying to put the system (before they were on a filer, as it happened) back together for your users after a crash, and these people's (censored) license scheme wants faxes and (censored) to be able to work again. I don't know of Opnet uses the inode number to do this or what.
I don't know either. The workaround is to schedule your crashes ahead of time, and use the opnet web-interface to release (or whatever) the licenses prior to the crash, then re-install afterward.
