So I have an FAS3020 running 7.0.2 It has been repurposed to handle production data and as such we need to back it up.
I've attached a DLT8000 tape drive to is via SAN (fiber->scsi bridge), and ontap sees the tape:
Tape drive (em2dir1:2-26.146L4) Quantum DLT8000 rst4l - rewind device, format is: 81633 bpi 40GB cmp DLTIV nrst4l - no rewind device, format is: 81633 bpi 40GB cmp DLTIV urst4l - unload/reload device, format is: 81633 bpi 40GB cmp DLTIV rst4m - rewind device, format is: 85937 bpi 70GB cmp DLTIV nrst4m - no rewind device, format is: 85937 bpi 70GB cmp DLTIV urst4m - unload/reload device, format is: 85937 bpi 70GB cmp DLTIV rst4h - rewind device, format is: 98250 bpi 40GB DLTIV nrst4h - no rewind device, format is: 98250 bpi 40GB DLTIV urst4h - unload/reload device, format is: 98250 bpi 40GB DLTIV rst4a - rewind device, format is: 98250 bpi 80GB cmp DLTIV nrst4a - no rewind device, format is: 98250 bpi 80GB cmp DLTIV urst4a - unload/reload device, format is: 98250 bpi 80GB cmp DLTIV
There is media in said tape, it is NOT write protected, and I've tried other media as well as other tape drivers (I actually have 4 DLT8000 drives assigned to the machine)
Whenever I try to dump data to tape manually : dump 0f nrst4a /vol/vol0/etc ... Fri Jun 29 10:03:24 PDT [tape.cmd.chkCondErr:error]: Device em2dir1:2-26.146L4: Check Condition: SCSI Op Code Write(06)) (CDB 0x0a: 0x00fc00 bytes): data protec t - Write protected (0x7 - 0x27 0x0 0x0). DUMP: Tape write failed - new tape is broken or write protected. ...
When issuing mt commands (rewind specifically) I get this error: Fri Jun 29 10:03:07 PDT [scsi.cmd.checkCondition:error]: Device em2dir1:2-26.14 L4L4: Check Condition: CDB 0x15: Sense Data SCSI:data protect - (0x7 - 0x27 0x 0x0)(1).
Any ideas? I've scoured NOW, nothing seems to resolve my issue. __________________________________________________________ Ken Williams Storage Administrator, Business Technology Operations Sacramento Municipal Utility District E-Mail: kwillia@smud.org Phone: (916) 732-6744 Cell: (916) 240-4213
