On a general note, we will test and qualify new software releases running on discontinued hardware for a period of 2 years after hardware End of Availability date.
We have recently decided on the following clarification for software support if the hardware has met the 2 year period:
Software support for hardware surpassing the 2 year period will not be phased out in Data ONTAP Maintenance releases. (i.e. x.x.x). We will phase out support in Major Data ONTAP releases (x.x).
Thus, the F220, F330, and F540 products (which have a 4/30/00 End of Software Support) will be supported in the Data ONTAP 5.3.x Maintenance Releases. This effectively extends software support until we stop creating maintenance releases for 5.3.x.

Any word if ontap 5.4 will be out this month?
The reason I ask is Netapp told us they are discontinuing software support at the end of this month because the F330's were declared EOL a year ago. However, last I had talked to anyone about this it was believed that 5.4 would be out before they discontinued software support.
What is the plans for ontap versions and F330 and support? Anyone know?

Ok, but that sounds a little contradictory. The hardrware of the F330 was discontinued only a year ago, yet the software is discontinued a year later.
In short are you saying that 5.4 WON'T be available for the F330's? When we had renewed our software support in October, we were told that it probably WOULD include 5.4, othewise we wouldn't of bothered to renew the software support if it didn't.
