Can someone please quickly explain to me how netapp licensing work:
Do you need to buy SnapRestore license to have SnapShot capabilities?
Snapshots are part of the base ontap system. <scw>

SnapRestore is a separately licensed product. Snapshots are a standard feature for NetApp out of the box and you can find a whole host of information on how to configure them on the NOW site - http://now.netapp.com

Well, a quick answer is snapshots come with the product. SnapRestore allows for quickly restoring one volume back to the point in time a snapshot was created, and single file snaprestore (as Adam mentioned). That requires a license. You can get the same 'reverting a filesystem back to a previous snapshot' feature in a rougher way, using prev_cp, at the 5 item menu. It requires a reboot, but if your operation can support that (or are especially cheap), it may be a good idea for you.
