It is okay to say bye, but we prefer that you use a power cycle after a firmware upgrade.

The REASON we ask folks to power cycle was to put the fear of god in them that things would not go right if they didn't power cycle. This was due to the fact that we had gotten an inordinate number of bug reports about "ontap doesn't run after an OFW upgrade" well.. turns out they allways forgot to do the "bye" thing, so power cycling was written into the methodology...
