Hi ...
Good or bad, right or wrong I have never been involved with backups of the Filers that I Admin. It was a decision made long time ago and nobody has ever decided to change/fix it.
Anyway, the backup folks upgraded from Veritas NetBackup 5.x to the new 6.0. Since then the backups have not worked reliably.
They have involved me now and I am looking for anyone that may have any information.
So far all the information that I have been given is that the backups fail with an error 86.
This may be related so I am going to ask - we have a SpectraLogic 64000 and they have been emulating a 1000 because when we purchased the 64000 it was not supported by the Filer. Is that still true ... can they stop using emulation?
And, in the same line, they are using some sort of emulation on the tape drives as well ... the drives are AIT-4 Sony SDX-900v's. Are they supported??
Sorry to sound so ignorant on this - but as I said earlier, I have not been involved in this aspect of the Filer (until now).
And I'm willing to do some digging - pointing me in the right direction would even be helpful.
Thanks.

Ask the backup guys to look at the bperror output for that client, and check over in the veritas-bu mailing list (just google for veritas-bu) and see if anyone has gone over to 6.0 with ndmp over there yet. I am planning on doing the same thing shortly, so I'd be interested in the results.
