Mike,
I was just notified by a system engineer at NetApp that these converters will not work. The NetApp X6512A converter (same as the the Stratos) requires a powered copper fibre channel connection. The copper fibre channel port for tape on the FAS250 is not powered so these converters will not work.
Sorry for the wrong information. I will let you know if I can come up with a solution.
Thank you, Tim

Mike,
By the way, NetApp also sells the X6512A Media Interface Adapter. It was originally intended for filers with optical FCAL controllers and copper based FC9's & DS14's, but it should also work for your application.
Thanks, Tim

Mike,
Take a look at Stratos Lightwave. We use their converters all the time for various copper-optical fibre channel applications. Here is one of the products we use often (Copper DB-9 to Optical SC converter):

I have a bunch of these in our test lab. I'd be happy to let you borrow one to test with.
Thanks, Tim

Does anyone know of a unsupported/supported copper to optical converter for the FAS250 copper fibre tape port? Our fibre switches do not support cooper Gbic's, and the LTO tape drives we have only support optical fibre connections (point to point).
