1. What are your ontap versions on filers ? 2. Have you tested first local dump from 840 to local tape ? What's the speed there ?

I am backing up a 740 with veritas using the "3 way ndmp" config. i.e. the 740 is backing up via ndmp to an 840 with a dlt8000 directly attached to it. the network is ATM LANE with combo of 1.5mbps and 622mbps. my performance is real bad, like 1 mb/s for a backup. has anyone had any experience with this type of scenario and have any suggestions?? i am going to try the NFS type backup as an experiment but would like to get ndmp to work properly.
