We are trying to attach our netapp db9 console ports to a cisco as2509-rj async rj45 lines, but are having no luck. The cisco h/w configuration documentation has a diagram for the db9 to rj45 pinout, but it does not work. Has anyone done this?
Thanks, Jim

Yep. Here's the relevant bit we use:
rj45 pin color 1 blue 2 orange 3 black 4 red 5 green 6 yellow 7 brown 8 white
CrossOver Pin Signal --------- --- ------ Green 1 DCD Yellow 2 RxD Black 3 TxD Orange 4 DTR Red 5 GND Brown 6 DSR Blue 7 RTS White 8 CTS
K.
use the cisco 9 pin/rj-45 adapter on the back of the netapp.
modify the adapter in the following fashion: pop db-9 out of case. cut pin's 4 and 6 (orange and brown) flush on db-9. strip each as much as you can. twist the two together ALOT, unless your going to solder it. push them back into the case first. snap the db-9 back on.
you have to use a straight through rj-45 to rj-45 cable the standard green cisco will not work. i just cut the connecter off the end and put a new one on the right way.
works for foundry switches to!!
