Does anyone know of a method to test autosupport notifications (sent to netapp) via https post? Options autosupport.doit only tests via mail apparently. I've got a student who's filer isn't sending out notifications and I wanted to have him kick of a test.
Thanks in advance, Nick
Hi Nick Where did you read/hear that asup.doit does not send via HTTP/HTTPS?
Options autosupprt.doit *does* send to NetApp via HTTP/HTTPS if that's how it's configured. Otherwise, we'd have to change the options every time NGS needed a fresh asup!
I just tested to make sure:
labrat> options autosup <snip> autosupport.support.enable on autosupport.support.transport https labrat> options autosupport.doit 'sure it sends via https' labrat> Tue Aug 12 16:46:10 PDT [asup.post.sent:notice]: System Notification message posted to Network Appliance: System Notification from labrat (USER_TRIGGERED (sure it sends via https)) INFO
Checked the asup database a couple minutes later, and there it is!
Share and enjoy!

Additionally, if you perform the 'options autosupport.doit test' command, you'll get a response back from NetApp via email (based on the email 'from' address in the ASUP options) showing that it was successful.
Is it possible that you have to use a proxy? That's how our environment is configured...

Gah! I think that cleared up the confusion. That was the subject we used and they got an email back despite it appearing to be set to https, which made me think that doit was only via email. It looks like they may have a firewall issue, but that's definitely good do know, I didn't realize that was a reserved keyword.
Thanks to everyone who responded, sorry I didn't get a chance to get back to the helpful folks who got back to me earlier.
