When I had this problem it was because I changed the filer's identity. The PDC could no longer authenticate the filer.

Just go to the PDC, remove, and re-add the filer from the list of workstations. (resetting the information the PDC has) Turn CIFS back on, and voila! (Well... it went that way for me anyway)

What does the message "CIFS - Filer's security information differs from domain controller." mean?

Any suggestions?
