I run into this pretty often. Try running "lock_dump -f" (after running rc_toggle_basic if necessary) and look for the directory that you can't remove.
If you see the directory you're having trouble with, just try terminating the CIFS connection of the machine holding the lock. That usually clears it up for me.
The directories that I was concerned about were not listed in the lock dump. I was able to delete the directories from an NFS client today. Which just makes me more confused. Do "nlm locks"(?) not show up in a "lock_dump"? Why couldn't I delete the directories from a Cifs client?

For some reason my filer won't let me delete a couple of folders. I have run into this problem before. It says access denied or folder in use, but I have administrative rights and I don't believe the folders to be in use (They are empty). If the directories are somehow open or locked, how do I determine what client has them open? How can I force the filer to relinquish the folders.
The directories are located within a NTFS style qtree.
