According to the release notes QR does support 3-way NDMP backup and recovery.

Does QR support 3-way NDMP dumps where the tape library is located on a Solaris host (i.e., does QR come with an ndmpd for Solaris)? Veritas also does 3-way, but only to a tape drive attached to another filer. I need something that can efficiently handle over a dozen filers dumping to a couple of Solaris boxes sharing a single stacker (like an X200 Mammoth2 library or something).

So does Veritas NetBackup, but only if the tape host runs an NDMP server. There is no officially-supported NDMP server for Solaris (as far as Veritas is concerned), so you cannot use NDMP to tell a filer to stream data to a tape drive on a UNIX host. The drive must be connected to another filer.
I'm hoping that QuickRestore will support the generic ndmpd for Solaris, or provide an ndmpd server binary.
Hi,
The reply I got to queries about three way backups, was the the tape library could be attached to the admin host but was better attached to one of the filers.

PS. I've been working on a QR solution to our backups for the last month+ and so far I like what I've seen.
