Hi,
We currently have a customer with an F760 and 6 shelves of 36's, and an F720 with 6 shelves of 18's. We've had problems with both that of course should never have happened. About the only thing we came up with is another F760 with 6 shelves of 72's, vol copy to it, and then having the customer FTP to both to keep things in sync. This solution is a bit pricey for the customer. (About $47K)
Has anyone looked at any of the IDE based solutions to replace a F760 class filer? We do about 4500 to 5K NFSops.
Anyone had any other ideas?
Thanks, Tuc/TTSG Internet Services, Inc.
Hi -
I have been successful in creating a console connection to a F740, however - hyperterminal and any key combination I am trying, does not seem to send a break to the system to get it to drop to the ok> prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this happen? Or alternative programs that will send a break - I have used TeraTerm on Sun to successfully do this, but I am not sure this will work on a Netapp. I should also mention that the filer is looking for another filer head and eventually freezes at the end before I can enter a password. I assume this is because it is not successfully finding the second filer.
Kind Regards, ~kvs

There are some combinations of OS and hyperterm that *cannot* send a break. I remember most versions of NT4 that being particularly true.

I assume you mean TeraTerm *with* a Sun. TeraTerm Pro is an excellent free serial terminal program for windows. I heartily recommend it for this purpose. It's only drawback for me is if you have a strange serial port on your box that isn't on com1-4, TTpro won't use it.
Lots of other programs would work fine... SecureCRT, Kermit, ....
