The issue is possibly one of expectation... The R-100 is, after all, intended to be a "near-line" device.
Certainly, the CPU, RAM and NVRAM figures are far below what would be normal for a production "on-line" Fibre Channel based filer of similar capacity.
Having said that, the performance should be at least better than a tape array. There are several configuration issues that may affect networking performance to the box.
Do you have any specific figures?
At least, run a "sysstat 1" during a busy period, capture some of the output and post it.
Unfortunately (and probably for marketing reasons), NetApp have chosen not to post SpecSFS figures for the R100, which setting expectations a little difficult.

I'm working with a customer who just got an R-100 and the performance is much less than we expected.
I'm wondering what type of performance other people are experiencing with their R-100, or for that matter with other similar low-cost drive storage options.
