Hi toasters,
does anybody know if we can use 9um LC-LC cables to connect a shelf with an ESH2 to a filer, or are 50um LC-LC cables the only supported ones?
Because this will be a production system i need to know if it is covered from Netapp-support. Sadly i did not find anything about this on NOW.
Best Regards and thanks in advance
Jochen
9um cables are Single Mode cables, and are used to pass a different wavelength of light than the 50 / 62.5 um cables.
It shouldn't work, and if it works, it's possible you cause some damage to the SFP's due to too high light levels.

Hi,
thanks a lot! My last physik lesson is some time ago... In the meanwhile i got an answer from Netapp and it is that only 50um is supported.
BTW: What was the maximum length of shelf-to-head-cables??
Regards
Jochen

I think 30 meter is the maximum length for a shelf to shelf cable. I've used one that long before.
