Hi,
just wondered if anyone has any experience of setting up an HP storageworks MSL 5000 with a GF920.It's connected via a SCSI card but the tape drive is unusable. I've tried the following and wondered if I've missed anything obvious!
we've been given an HP Storageworks MSL 5000 tape library which contains a Compaq SuperDLT1 drive. This is connected to a X2027 Adaptec SCSI card as supplied by netapp. Problem is that the drive is recognised as non-qualified so won't work. I've tried various suggestions from the NOW site but can't get it to work eg should be the same drive as the Quantum SuperDLT1/SDLT220 so I've setup a cloned_tapes file with the following emulation (from solution ntapcs8340).
COMPAQ SuperDLT1 EMULATES Quantum SuperDLT1 (also tried SDLT220)
enigma>storage show tape supported Quantum SDLT220
so in theory it should work.
enigma>mt -f nrst0a status mt: open of tape nrst0a failed
enigma>sysconfig -t
Tape drive (5a.1) COMPAQ SuperDLT1 (Non-qualified tape drive)
enigma> storage show tape
error: unable to obtain info for device at id 0
enigma> storage show mc
Medium Changer: 5a.0 Description: COMPAQ MSL5000 Series Serial Number: 3G31LBV38DLD World Wide Name: Alias Name(s): mc0 Device State: available
If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated Regards John
quick solution to this problem:
cured it by updating the (very out of date) firmware on the MSL5000
