Strange things are happening on the Filer. We have a F720, with Ontap version 5.3.5R2P2.
Users are editing a file, once they quit the editor and look at the file size it is of zero bytes. This is happening quite often. Any solution for this problem.
Just a thought - have you placed (a) quota(s) that apply to the area where the users are editing the files? If the quota space limit is maxed but the file limit isn't, then you might see this sort of problem.
How long has the problem been going on and have you made any changes to the clients or the filer (including mount-point options, patching, etc. on the clients and the usual sort of filer config changes) in a period that might correlate with the start of the problem?
Thanks for snapshots we could retrieve the file back. Though the snapshots are there this is not good.
Until you fix the problem it might be an idea to rename at least one of those snapshots so they don't expire and force you to use backup tapes.
