Hi guys,
i have a very old f840 without maintenance. I have the nvram battery broken. So in this case the parameter raid.timeout will stop the filer after the setted hours value.
I have dataontap 6.5
There is a way to disable/avoid the filer reboot ? setting the value to 0 stop the filer immediately. There an infinite value to disable the halt ?
Best regards,
Luca Domenella

Luca,
The raid.timeout seems to be tied to raid groups in degraded mode, and not tied to the battery/NVRAM. I never worked with a 840 or 6.5 so I may be mistaken. You may boot the box and check your raid groups. Perhaps you can replace a drive.
With regards to the timeout value, there doesn't seem to be a documents max. I did find this in some old man pages:
If the raid.timeout option is specified after the system is already in degraded mode, the timeout is set to the value specified and the timeout restarted. <<
Based on this you might try setting the value to 9999 (roughly 59 days). If it does reset when a number is set, you might be able to reset it by putting in another number prior to the 59 days running out. Since this filer is this old and out of support I would assume you can probably schedule a reboot time once in a while if it is needed to reset the clock.

There is, but why would you not just replace the battery?
