-FAS960 -OnTAP 7.2.3 -2 Aggr -Installed Multistore License -Created vfilers: lgsstpnas02> vfiler status vfiler0 running excvfiler1 running
But cant ping the ip of the vfiler assigned to e6b.
Here my network interfaces:
e0 Up 192.168.215.95 Modify Up Down e5b Down 10.223.61.90 Modify Up Down e6b Up 10.223.61.91 Modify Up Down e7b Down -- Modify Up Down e9b Down -- Modify Up Down vifp32 Up 10.223.59.111 Modify Up Down RemoveTrunk - e5a Up -- Modify - e6a Up -- Modify vifpriv Up 192.168.56.4 Modify Up Down RemoveTrunk - e7a Up -- Modify - e9a Up -- Modify lo Up 127.0.0.1
The two cisco 3750 on top are trunked so I should be able to reach any vlan in my network. Any hint anyone?

Wow, a multistore question on toasters, what a treat. I was beginning to think my environment was one of the few multistore shops.
A few questions:
1. what does 'vfiler status -r' say? 2. is the ip address in the output pingable from someplace? 3. are you using vlans or ipspaces? 4. what does 'vfiler run excvfiler1 run route -s' say?
multistore turns off routed so you'll need a default route on the vfiler.

Hi Cris, Where are you pinging from? From the filer console? If so then you will not be able to ping the IP address of the second vfiler (excvfiler1) as there is not routing done by the filer.

Ontap 7.2.4 filer> vfiler status vfiler0 running silicon running filer> vfiler run silicon ping 172.16.0.20
===== silicon 172.16.0.20 is alive
filer> ping 172.16.0.20 no answer from 172.16.0.20
If you want/need routing between the two vfilers then you would need a router (linux/unix/layer 3 switch/router/*Window* etc)
* Yes Windows can be a router - added for completeness - who know it might even work :)

Thanks Michael, managed to make it work, there seems to be a problem when you reuse an ip that was assigned to an interface and then use as a vif. Arp table seems to get messed up.
