Rahul,
If you backup a filer over NFS - you will lose CIFS ACLs. If you backup a filer over CIFS - you will NOT lose NFS permissions, since we have a patented (or patent pending, excuse me but I'm not sure) to include NFS permissions in the CIFS traffic itself transparently, and restore it transparently.
Thus, if you have a qtree with both filer with NFS permissions AND files with CIFS ACLs you can backup using:
1. NDMP - Since it's filer native format of dump, it backups all special attributes 2. CIFS - Like I explained above 3. NFS - With the notion that you will lose ACL information

What effects does backing up filer's mixed qtree data (filer permissions) over NFS using NetBackup 3.4. Can we restore the files from the tape library over NFS with nfs as well as cifs permissions
